Castello di Monterone, historical hotel of Umbria – The History

In the very beginning of XIII century, the nobile exile Gerardo di Ghislero di Alberico from Assisi, had a strong desire to become citizen of Perugia, he went to the notary Bertramus to declare he owned a property in Monterone area .About sixty years after, not more than one kilometer from Monterone Castle,  there was constructed by the Templari family, the church of San Bevignate with the monastery annexed. According to an oral tradition supported by some importat and learned historians from the nineteenth century, the Castle of Monterone became a part of the property of Templari, as a place to receive and lodge the lay servants
